Photographer, Filmmaker & A Visual Artist
My name’s Noman Ilahi. I’m a photographer, filmmaker & a visual artist, all in the making. Currently based in Faisalabad but always on the go throughout the country because it’s a requirement of my field. I’m studying Visual Communication and Design from FITFD, also known as Faisalabad Institute of Textile and Fashion Design.
I started photography when I was in my high school days, started as a partnership which didn’t turn out so well and I learnt kind of hard way that the glory of becoming a self-made artist is unmatched, so that is when I got my gadgets, one after another; discovered through the process and still learning. I believe as an artist you should go for all sorts of work related to your field so when it comes to photography, and I’ve done it all; fashion, product, weddings, travelling, drone shots, everything. These are some of my favourite shots from my recent ventures through the major cities of Pakistan.
Excelling in photography made me go for filmmaking as well, which I am currently into more than anything. So, I decided to shoot a short film while on my tour to Naran and other Northern Areas which was an experience of its kind. Filmmaking puts things into a whole different perspective, and as I keep on working, I find that I’m exploring myself as well in the process, which is the best thing that I like about my work. Art is different than other fields in all the respects, not only is it a lifestyle that gives you a freedom of expression but also it forms the basis of my ideologies and goals which make me get better at it every passing day.
You’re not entitled, judged or looked down upon because most of the people who directly or indirectly belong to art as a field or even off-field, are genuinely humble and know the pure sense of appreciation and regard for those who deserve it. I hope anyone and everyone who’s reading this, find this as a piece of motivation to pursue and work hard for anything that they desire to achieve. A few years back, I wouldn’t have looked at myself the way that I am now, but it is what it is. Many more and much more to come, for you as well and me. Thank you.
